RF site survey

The goal of a RF site survey is to supply enough information to determine the number and the placement of access points so to provide adequate coverage throughout the site. In most implementations, adequate coverage means the support of a minimum data throughput.
A RF site survey also detects the presence of interferences coming from other sources that could degrade the performance of the wireless LAN.
Conducting a RF site survey is essential to correctly implement a WiFi network with 99.9% of availability. Many WiFi networks simply don’t work as expected or under-perform !
Conducting a professional RF site survey will save you time and money in the long term.

The site survey is conducted in 3 phases:

  1. Analysis and pre-survey on plan
  2. On-site survey
  3. Survey report

Analysis and pre-survey on plan

This first theoretical step (based on the site plan and the client’s specifications) is intended to validate the feasibility of the project, define the appropriate equipment, predefine the location of access points and determine a budget.

This step requires to know :

  • the client application
  • the area to cover
  • the desired performances (bandwidth / throughput)
  • the number of radio clients connected simultaneously.

On-site survey

This second step is intended to verify that the implementation imagined on plan conforms to the site specificities while taking into account the topology of the area to cover (obstacles, buildings, vegetation, relief, …). It is a matter of testing “life-size” the equipment and refine the actual positioning of the access points.

Testing and optimizations based on the environment include:

  • check for RF interferences encountered on site and the possible presence of WiFi networks around
  • the elimination of shadow zones
  • verification of the quality and strength of the WiFi network at any point in the area to be covered
  • the guarantee of expected data throughput.

Survey report

This report based on all previous measurements lists all the recommendations necessary to guarantee the expected performance: number and exact location of WiFi devices, antennas selection, orientation and polarization.

training

Welcome to the Acksys Academy

We are committed to providing comprehensive support to our distributors through regular training courses throughout the year. These courses are designed to ensure that our partners have the knowledge they need to use and optimize our products effectively.

We offer two levels of training. The first level covers the basics of our products. The second, more advanced level focuses on specific and complex features of our ACKSYS routers.

In this second level of training, participants will learn to understand and use the advanced features of our routers, such as bridging, routing, VLANs, QoS, Radius, VPNs, advanced roaming, rogue AP detection, wireless load balancing and asynchronous system updates. They will also learn to understand and manage LTE functionality on our routers, covering topics such as elements of 4G LTE architecture, LTE data plane protocol, LTE global cellular network, mobility in 4G networks, and participate in a hands-on lab on configuring the LTE module on an ACKSYS router.

Finally, this level of training also includes modules on deployment management and troubleshooting complex issues, to ensure that our distributors are fully equipped to manage all aspects of our network solutions.

ACKSYS supports its customers at every stage of their projects

  • Definition of technical requirements,
  • Solution design (network architecture, etc.),
  • Mock-up for feasibility study, demonstrator (POC),
  • Project-specific validation platform,
  • RF site survey,
  • Commissioning,
  • Solution deployment, or installation supervision (coaching),
  • Acceptance,
  • Training.

This technical assistance is offered remotely or on site, and is carried out by ACKSYS experts.

ACKSYS can also carry out an installation audit in order to control/verify a Wi-Fi installation that is failing or showing insufficient performance.
