Connect Before Break is an advanced roaming solution, adapted to communication systems requiring high performance in mobility, such as applications in the railway, industry and other sectors.
The solution is based on a simple yet innovative approach, using two radio cards.
It maintains an active connection without packet loss during scanning and roaming. One radio is used for data exchange, while the other takes care of scanning and connecting to the best available access point.
A series of advanced parameters enable the solution to be fine-tuned to the radio architecture on the ground and to the radio profiles specific to the railway sector. The notion of best access point can be configured according to various parameters, such as signal level, etc.
When the connection to the new AP is confirmed, the roles of the two radios are interchanged, ensuring uninterrupted communication between onboard and on the ground.
CBB proves particularly effective in WiFi train-to-trackside communication systems for subways, where high data rates and very low error rates (less than 0.1%) are essential. In addition to ensuring packet-loss-free roaming, CBB’s dual-radio roaming enables higher travel speeds than those achievable with single-radio solutions.
The CBB algorithm – which can be used in a variety of railway and other applications – is designed for use with a broad profile of radio systems. To meet the specific needs of train-to-ground communications in railway systems, ACKSYS has complemented this algorithm with Predicitve Linear Handover (PLH), optimized specifically for railway applications.
This CBB roaming solution – currently operational on several Paris metro lines – embodies ACKSYS’ commitment to providing high-performance, reliable solutions tailored to the specific challenges of wireless communications, particularly in harsh environments such as railways.
