Main window

File menu:The file menu is used to quit the application.
The "Remote products database..." allows the definition of IP addresses that will be monitored (with SNMP) even if they are not in the LAN.
The "Detected products database..." allows the management of previously detected products. You can set their SNMP community or delete them. Deleting unexisting products speeds up NDM. Deleting existing products is safe, since they will be redetected; only the SNMP community is lost.
The "Pack database" collects empty space in the database, reducing its file size with no loss of information.
The "Net List" is used to get informations about all the network interfaces in the computer.
Edit menu:The edit menu is used to open the preferences dialog, or to make specific selections on the products list.
The "Multi-configure" dialog allows you to manage products profiles and to apply changes to selected products.
The "Show nonresponding products" toggle choice shows or hides products that where previously detected but cannot be reached now.
Help menu:The help menu is used to get some help to use the application, or to get informations about the application.
Refresh button:Clears the list and rescan the network.
Essential Config. button:Opens the Essential Config. dialog for the selected products.
Upgrade button:Opens the firmware upgrade dialog for the selected products.
Web button:Accesses the embedded configuration pages of the selected product.
RSSI button:Opens the RSSI dialog for the selected infrastructure clients.
Hide selection:This check box is used to hide the selected products from the products list.
Products tree:Shows the products grouped by kind and state, when you make a selection on the tree, the products list reflects the selected set.
  • All products: It is the root of the tree, all products are in this set.
  • Access points: In this node, you will find all access points.
  • Infrastructure station: In this node, you will find all infrastructure-mode client stations like infra bridges. They will be grouped by access point. If the station is not associated with an access point, it will be shown in Unassociated set.
  • Ad-hoc stations: In this node, you will find all Ad-hoc stations like Ad-hoc bridges. They will be grouped by IBSS ID.
  • Mesh portals: In this node, you will find all Mesh portals.
  • Multifunction devices: In this node, you will find all multifunction devices like WLn-...product lines.
  • Products with limited connectivity: Here are the the products which NDM cannot fully manage. Products can be unmanageable for various reasons, for example if their IP address is wrong, their SNMP server is disabled, or the SNMP community used is wrong (you can set the community on a per-device basis in the File→Products databases dialogs).
Status bar:Shows the number of products detected.
Products list:This list shows informations about the set of products selected in the tree pane.
It is updated at the rate set in the Edit/Preferences dialog.
  • IP addresses appearing in red indicate a detected IP address conflict.
  • MAC addresses appearing in grey background indicate an unreachable product. This can appear when the "show nonresponding products" is selected in the "edit" menu.
The product maybe powered off, disconnected, on a heavily loaded network, or on an unreachable remote network.
  • Empty cells indicate that SNMP is not available on the corresponding product.
  • Cells containing "N/A" mean that the firmware of this product does not advertize the corresponding SNMP value.
Product Detail:This panel shows details about one selected product in the products list. It updates with the products list.
Location column:Shows the name (or location) of the products, which can be changed by the user (eg, with the web configuration pages).

Channel column:Shows the radio channel in use and the type of Wi-Fi substandard.
